Located in the NSW country town of Cootamundra the Elouera Special School is an educational centre of excellence providing individualised supports to students with a disability from Kinder to Year 12. The school is in Scott Avenue, a quiet cul-de-sac near the retirement village and the Cootamundra High School. Built on large grounds with room to expand, we have developed facilities that are second to none in the region.
Elouera Special School is NESA registered and an Independent Special School providing supports to all students with a moderate to severe intellectual disability, autism. Our goal is to provide each student with an individual education plan that fully meets their needs and goals. .
Elouera Special School provides education to School aged children 4-18 from kinder to year 12. We maximise our involvement in the community and life skills are a priority to ensure each student can become the best version of themselves. We have a maximum of only 34 students in the school so class sizes are small to better meet students needs
Students from the Cootamundra, Young, Temora, Harden and Gundagai areas may qualify for Government funded taxi services that bring your child from home to School and back again, this also applies for those living out of town on a property.
Our students love using the computers, Smartboards, Ipads and specialised learning equipment that we have installed in every classroom. With a huge range of educational software available these days, students learn their core subjects while learning how to use computers at the same time.
Every class room has access to this technology making the Elouera Special School a modern learning environment. Our staff and students love the group activity qualities of the larger interactive screens and how students can become involved with and not just observers of the days lessons.
We are lucky to have a team of qualified Teachers working four to five class rooms all with many years Special Education experience between them. They are supported by dedicated and skilled School Learning Support Officers (SLSO). While we have wonderful facilities at the Elouera Special School it is the staff than make it truly special.
Please make contact with our Head Teacher at the school on 02 6942 2064 or the Elouera Association Ltd Chief Executive Officer on 02 6942 6586 either will discuss with you your child’s needs , our enrolment criteria and arrange a time for you to meet the school staff and tour our facilities. The objective of our Life Skills Based program is to equip the student with the skills that will maximise their independence and opportunities in their post school years lives.
