For nearly 40 years, my wife and I ran our pharmacy in Cootamundra which we sold and retired in 2020. I was involved in local government for 25 years and Mayor of Cootamundra Shire for 15 years.
For many years I was treasurer of the Shires Association of NSW and chaired the regional organisation of councils (REROC). I served as chairman of the Regulation Forum for the Food Authority NSW, also as a board member of the regional NSW health board (MLHD) and as a board member of the local government workers compensation insurance board.
Now that I am largely retired I am happy to bring whatever experience and assistance that I am able to the ongoing success of the Elouera Association.

I was born and raised in Sydney the youngest of seven children, one brother and five sisters, and despite a childhood growing up in the suburbs of Roseville and then Gordon. I left the city to study Teaching and have essentially lived in the country since, as do most of my 6 siblings. I moved to Cootamundra in 1993 after marrying my husband Simon Thompson. We have been married 31 years and have three adult daughters.
Since 1989 I have been a Secondary HSIE Teacher, teaching in a variety of schools. I commenced at Sacred Heart Central School Cootamundra in 1994 and taught there for 27 years.
Since 2021 I have held the position of Assistant Principal St Mary’s Primary School Young.
I joined the Elouera Board in October 2020 after a long association with Elouera Special School as a staff member from Sacred Heart Cootamundra. I worked closely with them as a leader at Sacred Heart to forge a connection between the two schools, to oversee our “Faith In Action” Community Service Program and build a culture of inclusion between the two organisations, which was an integral value of our school and our wider parish community. My parents instilled in me a belief in supporting and helping anyone whose circumstances caused them hardship, stress or exclusion. If there was an opportunity to support or help others they encouraged us to consider those who were vulnerable. I see a wonderful opportunity to support an amazing organisation in Cootamundra by serving on its Board

I have been a member of the Elouera Association Board for the past 16 years, 3 years of which were a Chairman of the Board. I have a great interest in Elouera and have seen it grown into a very diverse organisation, as it is a leader in the state in providing Education, work opportunities, services and care to members of the community who have a disability
