ELOUERA ASSOCIATION (INC)
MOVE TO COOTAMUNDRA
Hi I am Allan Young, Chief Executive
Officer for Elouera Association (Inc). Over ten years ago I moved my family
from Perth to Cootamundra to take up my position. It was a huge move but
one I have never regretted. The purpose of this page is to present
families of people with a disability with the option of relocating to a country
lifestyle, but one where a service is available to meet the needs of family
members.
Cootamundra is located halfway
between Sydney and Melbourne, it is a well serviced town with a population of
6500 and everything a family could need. The Cootamundra Shire Council
may offer people wanting to invest in the area assistance. Our
organisation is aware waiting lists to special education facilities and quality
employment services in the city can be a problem, so why not visit us and see what we can
offer as an alternative to city life and inadequate services for your family
members.
SHOPPING
Cootamundra has a huge range
of shops including Woolworth's, Mitre 10, Toyworld, a town Laundry, Cafe's,
Hair Dressers, Camping and Bike stores, IGA, Accountants, Lawyers, and every
major Bank. Businesses are doing well in a town that looks like it is
prosperous and not dying like in some centre's. Close to Cootamundra you
have Young, Wagga Wagga and Canberra if you want to make a day of it at the
bigger stores.
SCHOOLS
With two Primary Schools, a
High School and a Catholic School as well as our Elouera Special School
education needs are well taken care of, with some of Australia's best
Universities in Wagga Wagga and Canberra, further education is accessible, we
also have a fantastic TAFE.
SERVICES
Our town has a great hospital
and many good doctors including surgeons. Specialist service are
available, some more regular than others but with Wagga Base hospital only an
hour away medical needs are covered.
The Cootamundra regional
command of the Police Department provides us with a feeling of security, this
however is almost over kill as Cootamundra is on record as being New South Wales
equal lowest area for crime. Bring your kids up safe.
We have a retirement village
that offers all levels of care in picturesque gardens. The elderly have
many in house care programmes through the Greater Murray Health Service and the
Community Health and Community Centre.
The shire provides services
such as the town pool, an olympic sized pool very popular with the kids.
Our recently renovated Library is well equipped and has modern meeting rooms.
All of the major and some
minor denominations are represented as are all of the major service clubs.
HOMES
I personally live out of town
on six acres and you have the choice of in town living or rural blocks.
With house prices a fraction of what you would pay in Sydney, you can live in
relative luxury. Three real estate agents service the town and they will
assist in finding the perfect location for your family.
FURTHER DETAILS
An inspection of our services
is available by arrangement and you may contact me (Allan Young) for further
information on (02)6942 6586. I get to Sydney most months so if you
would like me to meet with you in Sydney to discuss the Elouera Association (Inc) and
living in the country just ask.
Take the plunge, like me its a
choice I doubt you will regret.
